Full Description
This course covers a variety of narcotics enforcement issues from case initiation to court presentation. Some topics include state and federal narcotics laws, investigating conspiracy cases, analyzing intelligence and surveillance. Also discussed are the history and pattern of drug trafficking, drug identification, field-testing, and the collection, preservation and submission of drug evidence. In addition to classroom lecture, interactive practical exercises will be used to assist in the instruction of undercover drug operations, informant debriefing and raid planning and execution. Instruction will be provided by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Students will need to provide a letter of confirmation from their agency head that they are assigned to a Narcotic Unit or Drug Task Force to the Investigations Section Supervisor by February 15, 2021 to be given preference. All students will be notified of their status (approved, denied) for class by March 1, 2021.
