Full Description
This is the Department of Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Basic Training academy as mandated by Kentucky Revised Statutes for peace officer certification. A successful completion of this course will satisfy the training requirements for KRS 15.404, 15.334, administrative requirements, and participation in the Kentucky Law Enforcement Foundation Program Fund if eligible. During this training course, a law enforcement recruit will be expected to complete both physical and cognitive learning tasks, including practical applied assessments and testing, with scores that meet regulated standards and demonstrate the professional expectations of a Kentucky law enforcement officer. A law enforcement recruit must comply with all Kentucky Administrative Regulations and successfully complete all training areas to be eligible for graduation. The training areas within this course include the required basic training topics, legal subjects, physical training, defensive tactics, patrol, vehicle operations, firearms, criminal investigations, DUI and field sobriety testing, breath testing, and practical evaluation and tests. For eligible law enforcement recruits, all meals, housing, and classroom materials are provided. Upon successful registration for this course, a detailed list is provided of all requirements that will be needed for training.

Signup Details
The following is required for admission to Basic Training: 1) POPS Form F and Form D  2) Medical Exam form (DOCJT Form #45)  3) Applicant Confirmation Form (DOCJT Form #151)

The medical examination (form 45) must be completed within 120 days proceeding the initial day of the class.  All medical examination forms must be signed by a medical doctor or physician's assistant. Incomplete medical forms, or those not signed properly, will prohibit a recruit from being admitted to Basic Training. The Agency Confirmation Form must be completed less than 90 days from Basic Training Start Date.
