Full Description: This class is exclusively for peace officers who are employed or appointed by a law enforcement agency, in order to meet KLEC training requirements for “active certification” purposes mandated by KRS. This course is intended as refresher training for previously trained officers who are returning to law enforcement after a break in service. It will cover high liability critical skills areas of law enforcement including: emergency vehicle operations, traffic stop tactics, basic firearms skills, and defensive tactics techniques. Officers will have to successfully pass a written exam, firearms qualification, and vehicle operations qualification to complete the course.

The learning objectives for this course will cover basic skills needed by peace officers including defensive driving, basic firearms, defensive tactics and traffic stops. Students are required to meet the minimum requirements of the firearms and vehicle operations qualification courses and a final written exam.
